Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Pets in a divorce

She received a registered puppy as a Christmas gift from her husband. Now, going through a divorce, he refuses to give her the puppy, which is registered under her name. He still resides in the home. She is now living out of town. The divorce will become final in a few weeks. She is very attached to her puppy and is missing her, with all her heart. What can she do to get her puppy back with her. He threatens her and doesn't allow her to go to the home, knowing that their home is still community property and is up for sale, while he is still living there.

File a property partition and list the puppy as her separate property.
