Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
I'm poor, but I want out
Is there any kind of free legal service for Family law? I want to leave my husband, but I can't afford even the retainer fee for an attorney. I don't want to be stuck in divorce limbo forever. Where should I go?
Thanks

The Louisiana State Bar Association maintains a list of lawyers willing to work at reduced fees in your region.

Check with your local bar association of the clerk of court and see if there is a "legal services" office in your Parish.

Dear Law Guru Friend,
Sorry I took so long in replying! Nothing wrong with what Misters Casanave and Pizzolatto told you. In case you do not already have a lawyer, I would suggest that you call the Acadiana Legal Service Corporation in Lake Charles and ask them the name, address and phone number of the legal service corporation serving your area of the state of Louisiana. Almost every large city in Louisiana has one, and they provide free legal services. They are funded by the Federal Government to provide free legal services to people just like you, including Family Law matters (such as divorces). Best of luck!
If you live anywhere near Lake Charles, or even in Southwest Louisiana, I will represent you on a PRO BONO (free) basis. Call me if I can be of help! Best of luck! Heck! No matter where you live, I will represent you PRO BONO. Feel free to call me!
Sincerely,
