Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
Can I get power of attorney over financial items in mine and my husband's name?
I am 64 years old, on social security, my husband is 66 years old, on social security. He is seriously depressed and for the past four weeks has been just sitting in his house and says he's waiting for ''them'' to come take everything away from him. I have gone to hime to try and get all of the documents for which we owe money on such as house payments, car payments, etc., but he refuses to give me anything. We are seriously in debt and We could lose our home and cars among other things. Do I have any legal ground to stand on? Please help!

ALTHOUGH YOUR QUESTION WOULD USUALLY BE REJECTED BECAUSE IT DOES NOT TELL US WHAT YOU MEAN BY "Do I have any legal ground to stand on?", YOU SOUND DESPERATE SO I SUGGEST YOU GO THROUGH THE HOUSE AND FIND OUT WHO YOU OWE AND HOW MUCH. CONTACT THE CREDITORS AND EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AND TELL HIM WHAT IS GOING ON AND SEE IF HE WOULD RECOMMEND AN EMERGENCY COMMITMENT. THERE ARE CERTAINLY A NUMBER OF CONSUMER HELP AGENCIES WHO WOULD HELP YOU. LOOK IN THE PHONE BOOK OR CALL THE COUNCIL ON AGING OR AARP. GOOD LUCK.
