First, hire a family law attorney in order to file the divorce petition. You aren't "legally seperated" until this is done. If you had a community property marraige (which is the default in Louisiana) then part of that petition will include an order preventing your husband for disposing of your marital property while you are seperated. If you ahve children then you need to think about a custody agreement, etc.
There is a lot that goes into protecting yourself during a divorce.
