Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I am in the process of getting a seperation agreement in Louisiana and the lawyer doing it tells me that I can buy a home (that she will have no rights to) after it is complete within 30 days. Is this true?

Once, you receive the judgment separating the community, or, or divorce, she will have no claim to property purchased after the judgment is signed. It is unusual to file for separation in Louisiana. Louisiana divorces can be obtained after 6 months of separation. If you have filed and are waiting the six months to obtain a final judgment, then once you file for divorce and it is served upon the other party, you have begun a separate regime from that of your former spouse.

If by separation agreement you mean separation before divorce, there is no such thing. If you have minor children, you must be separated a year before you can be divorced.
