Property Settlement Limitations

Is there any time limitation on the settling of property from a divorce? My first marriage in 1971 ended in divorce in 1983 and I am not sure if we ever settled the property such as my retirement benefits. Does my ex-wife have any legal claim to a portion of it now?

She does have a claim against your retirement if you contributed to it during the marriage.
