Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I have been raising my daughter for 11 years now on my own, with child support from the father. He has seen her once time in 4 years. His parents are pushing him to get visitation on paper so they may get his time for him since obviously he has been absent. They know I cannot afford a lawyer and plan to take me to court. How can I get legal counsel and help with no job. There are circumstances which keeps me from letting his parents get her anymore. I want him to have visitation, but he has never truly tried to exercise his rights and only comes out of the wood work when his parents pursist. My daughter is a very mature, adult sized 11 year old. What can I do if I get court papers.

The court will act in the best interests of the child. The legal presumption is that a child needs both parents. Unless you can show that visitation with the father or grandparents would be detrimental to the child, there is little you can do to prevent it. You may qualify for the legal services program in your area or with the local Bar association's pro bono project.
