Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I have received minimal child support for my two daughters at $600 per month for the last 12 years. it was based on my ex husband's status of disabled as he had hurt his foot. he recovered approx 2 years later. He has had his own alarm/security company since then (10ish years) and it is growing. I know I am way overdue in asking for a 'raise'. i was preparing to do just that when my mother passed away. I am due to receive an inheritance. My question is: Is my inheritance, which will be cash, considered income? I live in St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana.

Thanks for your help.

Your inheritance is not considered income unless you are receiving it as income-monthly or weekly paycheck. Child support is based on the combined monthly incomes of the parents. If you are not employed, you will be assigned an income of at least minimum wage unless you are totally disabled.
