Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Revocation of Consent to Adopt

Ive been reading up on adoption

laws being irrevocable. Its been about

a year since I gave up my parental

rights, was financially unstable to

take care of my children, they were

adopted by the paternal

grandparents. I felt pressured at the

time and want my children back; i

have a stable job/income. Is it

possible I can withdraw my consent

for termination of parental

rights/adoption? Has this ever been

done, is it possible? Should I look into

an atty or am I wasting time

wishing? Please help.

Re: Revocation of Consent to Adopt

If the Surrenders by both parents were done correctly, or if you declared the father was unknown, then the Surrender of your child for adoption is irrevocable. Simple pressure is not sufficient, there has to be fraud and/or duress. I would suspect you would be wasting your time, but you never know. Bring a copy of the surrender to an Attorney and maybe they did something that would render it null and void, but don't get your hopes up. Errors as to form normally do not nullify the surrender.
