Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

What are my rights?

I have recently divorced and the only thing left not completed is the community property settlement. Two months before marriage he purchased a Jeep Liberty for me (he states that it was for me) but he really needed something that was going to pull a trailer to bring his motorcyle which he also just purchased to and from Houston. I found out that he & his brother at a later date had this motorcycle stolen and they received $ for the bike and the ex-husband claimed on his insurance. Well, now that he doesn't have the bike he wants me to refinance the jeep and keep making payments. I decided to return the jeep to him & buy another car. He is furious and now wants me to pay 1/2 of school loan, 1/2 credit card (he had prior to marriage)and give up all rights to the house we purchased after marriage. The only thing left in both of our names is the house & it is currently in the process of being sold. He sent me a letter recently of how the settlement was going to be & if I didn't agree ( in other terms he stated that I would regret it).He called today & stated that if I don't make a decision today he will file charges against me, I have not done anything to break the law I am just waiting for a return call from an attorney I have contac

Re: What are my rights?

Have a long talk with the attorney you called. This lawyer can ask questions to make sure that the answers are clear and correct. Never let someone bully you into a settlement. It is not a crime to displease your ex-spouse regarding the property settlement. If you cannot reach this lawyer, seek another.
