Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
I have been seperated from my ex husband for over 4yrs now and had no idea where he was. I was recently told he passed away in a foreign country. Cant locate a death certificate or his family. What do I do? Am I considered a widow now or still married til I can miraculously find proof of death?

You can declare someone deceased after he has been missing for 7 years or after you have significant proof that he no longer is alive. You may be able to do so with affidavits or witness testimony that he has passed away perhaps from the person(s) whom you received the information.
