Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

We did a seperation of property abt 12 yrs ago due to a debt on a credit card of mine it was signed by a judge i live in a community state how long does this stay void and our property is in my spouse name can this keep from getting my part if we divorce

Separation of property is just that. However, an attorney would need to look at the instrument to determine if you simply split up what assets you had or you declared that you would not be bound by the community property laws of Louisiana and whatever each of you purchased with your own money belong to the individual. Have wills prepared, that takes the guess work out of the split at death.
