Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I don't know what I should.do in my situation. I have 11 year old twins and their father is in another state in prison. He has never paid any child.support. Can I just have him sign his rights over or should I go.after the child.support??

It may be a long time before you would receive any support but I'm not sure why you would alternatively terminate his rights.
