Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
I am the single father of a 6 mo. old boy. I initiated the paternity test because she wouldnt have anything to do with me. I have a lawyer to write up paperwork, but I feel that things could get tough. She has threatend to make me pay back child support. We have no legal agreement as of now, the paperwork has been drawn up but still waiting on smaller issues to get worked out. Will I have to pay back child support? Even though I keep my son just under half the time right now?

Child support is retroactive to the "date of judicial demand". This means until she files suit asking the courts to make you pay child support, you don't legally owe it.
I agree with Casanave.......but how much could 6 months back support be? And why didn't you put money aside to help even though she would not let you be involved in the pregnancy and birth?
