Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
My son is an alcholic, in and out of jail with no place to stay now and not a fit parrent. His girlfriend let a known child molester alone with our 2 year old grandchild. The mother also has a record of DWI. She is now in a relationship with the child molester and felon who was living with her and father of her new baby. She has now left our state of La after staying here for 8 months and fled to Indiana. We the grandparents had been watching our grandchild every weekend for the past 3 months. prior to that the mother had lived with us for a while. My question is do we have a case for proving the mother unfit? She was also arrested for assault droped to disturbing the peace about 5 months ago. Child protection services was caled about 5 months ago with reports from the father that she was cursing and punching the child. But CPS did not find proof after investigating. Do we have a case?

Call the Indiana Child Protection authorities about the situation. Also call Probation & Parole to see if the molester could lawfully live with the child. He might also be in violation for moving away without permission.
Yes, contact a lawyer immediately and discuss filing for custody of the child.
I agree with Andrew. You will have to do it in Indiana unless somehow the child is with you. In that case file for custody immediately.
