Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
My son is 14, he had no communication with his father untill he was 12. I did not keep him from his father, we were never maried and since we were very young when I got pregnant, his father did not want visatation and did not pay child support. Two years ago his father decided he wanted to see him. After talking it over with my son, we made a verbal agreement that he could see him if he paid Health insurance and school tuition for my son. He did not keep up his end of the deal and we went to court and his wages are now being garnished. We currently have a verbal visatation agreement that my son will spend every other weekend at his fathers house, however my son, being a typical teen, sometimes wants to go to the movies or dances on friday nights and will call and ask his father if he can come on Saturday rather than friday. His father gets very angry about the request (which is not every time my son is supposed to go) and is threating to take me to court, which is fine! I'm just wondering what age he can make the decision that he doesnt want to go one day but go the next. or decide if he doesnt want to go at all. It makes no difference to me. I have no problem with his father, I have no problem with him going over there. I'm just windering at what age he can make that decision.

There is no age except 18 which would allow him to choose to visit or not. However, the court will take his wishes into consideration at age 14.
