Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My son is 6 and the past two years he's been living with me and sees his mom once a week at the most. She has been getting section 8 and food stamps and may have helped with food three times. My name is on the birth certificate and I've been the only one to pay for anything since he was born.

Can I get child support ?

First of all you have to be granted at least joint custody with you being the domiciliary parent. Then yes, you can get child support.
