Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My son's father, the noncustoidal parent, and I agreed for him to have our son for the summer break. Once the break was over he stated that he wasn't bringing him back, because our son did not like where we were living. At that time, I was living in Houston Tx and the father is living in Shreveport LA. Can his father do this? I contacted the police in Shreveport and they stated it was a civil matter and I needed to get a lawyer and Houston PD stated the same. I just need to know what I can do as the custoidal parent.

If you have a judgment granting you custodial status and the visitation period ended without return of the child then you can ask for a civil warrant from the judge in the parish where the child is located. A certified copy of the judgment must be presented.

Get your Custody Judgment and take it to the police or sheriff and they will assist you.
