Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My ex and I split almost a year ago and we have 1 child together. He has never paid child support. We never went to court for custody. We decided that he would take her 2 days a week, and every other weekend. I had to get a second job to make ends meet and everyone says that I should just take him to court for child support. When I told him about this, he said he had already talked to his lawyer and they told him that he would not have to pay because he has her almost half of the time, and his expenses are higher. I do make more money than he does, but I am still having a hard time. If I do get the courage to take the next step, what are my chances to getting awarded child support?

Gather your financial information and consult with a lawyer. Child support in Louisiana is a mathematical formula. If you are paying for daycare and/or health insurance then there is an excellent chance that he owes you support.
