Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

statue of limitations

I am in the middle of a property settlement. I sent my DDL in to my lawyer and he accepted my list.. I am waiting for him to refinance the house to buy me out. It has been over a month since he was suppose to be doing this... How long do they give him to do this? I was told he could take indefinately to do this.. Is that true?

Re: statue of limitations

Under La. law, a suit is deemed abandoned if no activity takes place for 3 years. Based on what you posted, you should have no problem, if your attorney handles your matter as he should. A month is not very long, but consult your attorney and see what kind of time frame he is expecting after he talks with opposing counsel.
