i would like to know the next step to getting a divorce finalized after the judge has granted the fees to be waived.

I think I understand that you have filed a divorce suit and been granted pauper status. The next step depends on what type of divorce was filed. La. Civil Code 102 divorces require waiting 180 days then motioning the court for the divorce. La. Civil Code 103 is filed after the parties have remained separate and apart for the 180 days. Service is made on the other party and they are given 15 days to answer. If no answer, then an affidavit, judgment, etc is filed to get final decree. The Civil Code Articles 102 and 103 set out what needs to be filed and when.
