stepfather wants to adopt my son
my son is now 5 and has never seen his bio father. the bio father did sign a ecknowlegdment but has never seena or paid any thing for the child. and now i have been married for 4 yrs and the man that i am married to is the man my son thinks of as dad. he has been with me since my son was 2 wks old. now my husband wants to adopt my son . we also hve 2 other children together. the bio father is out of the picture completely. i dont even now where he lives. so is there any way my husband can adopt my son?

He can adopt your son by way of Intrafamily Adoption....an attorney will have to be appointed to try to find the bio-dad, but even if he would show up and object, there is little chance that the adoption would not be allowed. It is a one-step procedure, as opposed to a two-step procedure as is a private adoption. I do them all the time since so many times a non-bio-parent spouse wants to adopt the child of their spouse.
