Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I am the stepfather and my stepson is 7. His biological father has not seen him since he was 2. He currently still has child support deducted from his checks. I want to adopt my stepson, but bringing the bio into the picture could be very detrimental for the boy and dangerous for the mom.

As long as he is paying support, it will be difficult without an agreement from the father. If he has not seen him in over two years, you have an argument and a right of actionfor termination, but judges don't like to do this.
