Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

support/custody modification

My ex has recently switched to a higher paying job. We have come to a mutual agreement on an increase in support and a modified our custody agreement to shared parenting. We even drew our document up. Do we need to hire a lawyer, or can we get a notary to sign it and then file it the correct parish? Thanks.

Re: support/custody modification

I would suggest the two of you hiring a lawyer to draft and file the change with the appropriate orders. Since you agree the attorney's fee should be fairly low and you have the comfort of knowing that matters were handled properly.

Understand that that lawyer could probably never represent one of you against the other if matters became unfriendly.
