Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

As an unwed father of a child which I am willing to support what are my rights? The mother refuses to put my name on the child. I also work 21 days and am off 21 days. She only wants me to have the child on weekends while I am at home.

Contact a lawyer to file for joint custody. Unless you are truly unfit as a father you should be able to get more access to your child. You will be required to pay child support, which you seem to already accept. You aren't the first person with your kind of work schedule to go to family court. The judge and your lawyer should be able to help you make this work.

File a paternity action to prove you are the father, and upon the DNA proving you are, you ask for joint custody, ask that your name be placed on the birth certificate and for visitation to fit with your work schedule.
