Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Visitation rights for the father

I recently had a child a week ago and I'm single. I am wanting the father to give child support with only visitation rights to where he can't take her at all. Is this possible? There are several factors that I need to address also. He is a deputy sheriff in another parish and also thinks that because of that, he can do anything he wants. Only, he has not given any money, provided for me or the baby, and doesnt even call to check on her, or me. He also has another 3 yr old daughter with someone else, whom he pays $340 a month too, but its not legally done (not through any courts). He has had a few speeding tickets that I know of, and the last one was for doing 71 on a 35- a criminal offense... he was worried he was going to lose his job, so he didn't tell the judge that he is a deputy sheriff. I dont know if that makes a difference or not. He also pretty much stays overdrawn in his account, whereas his mom pays some of his ''mishaps''. I just feel really uncomfortable if he were able to take her. Is there anything I can do about this?

Extra Information:

He is 23 yrs. old and has not been working for the sheriff's office very long.

Re: Visitation rights for the father

Either get a lawyer or contact Child Support enforcement. Support can be set and his paychecks garnished to pay the support.

I suggest you also file for custody of the child (until there's a Court order either parent has equal rights to access). This makes it his duty to ask the Court for visitation.
