What do we have to do to get custody of a child when her mother is volunteering it? Do we need a lawyer ?

Re: voluntary custody
I suggest that you get a lawyer to draft a stipulated judgment for the parents (hopefully the father is in agreement or he may become a problem later) and the caregivers to sign and have presented to the Judge. Without a judgment one of the parents can terminate the deal simply because they want to.
