You can but if you've been using the married name you will need to petition the court. There are forms you can use-they will need to include an agreement from the district attorney but you will not have to have a hearing.

In Louisiana a woman does not have to take her husband's name and only does it for convenience and as required by banks etc for checking and savings accounts. You do not need a judgment granting you the use of your maiden name unless the entity you are interacting with requires it. Social Security may be one of those entities, as well as your bank and the driver's license bureau. A name change is very easy and the forms can be found online. If you cannot find them, email me.
