Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
My wife and I have custody of 3 grandchildren, through the Texas Cours. We allowed them to go to their mother's home in Lousiana on a trial basis. Now they want to return to us and their mother is refusing. They are in a bad situation (example: the mother recently made one of the 13 year old twin girls, come out of her room in bra and panties so her stepfather could see her "cute body". This is a scary situation for us and we can't seem to find help. Would we be possibly charged with kidnapping in Louisiana if we go get the children.

I know you don't need to hear this, but how could you let them go to their mother?? You got custody for a reason! Without actually seeing the document under which you claim to have custody, the rest of this is just supposition. With that said, get a certified copy of your Judgment of Custody from the clerk of court in Texas and take it to the Sheriff's Department of the Parish where the children are living and ask them to send a deputy with you to pick up the children. If you do not want to do that, then hire an attorney in the parish where the kids are and have the Judgment of Texas made a Judgment of Louisiana and use that to get the kids. If you just want to take the children without doing the above, then make sure you have a Certified Copy of your Custody Order from the Texas Court in case they call the law on you.
