Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My ex wife is trying to move out of state with our 5 yr old son, I have joint custody and my visitation is 3 days a week. Can she move out of state with a hand written letter telling me she is moving in 30 days?

After custody has been determined by the Court and there are documents in place, the orders prevail. The Court would have to modify custody and visitation prior to any move taking place. You should immediately file a motion in Court to stop any move if you don't agree.

If she notifies you she is moving you must formally object to the move and then she must file a rule for permission to move. However, if I were you, I would file a rule to show cause why the mother should not be allowed to leave.
