Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
My ex wife and I originally had a joint custody agreement in the divorce decree, where I was paying a certain amount of child support. We recently agreed to a different arrangement, in that one child is now living with me full time and one child living with her. I make a difference $400/month more than she does. What can I expect in child support obligation with we both having custody of one child each now?

Child Support is determined by a formula-both parties' gross incomes are added together. Each gross income is divided by this total to determine the percentage owed by each parent. The total combined income is matched to that in the Uniform Child Support Guidelines Table set forth in the La. Civil Code. This table has a list of combined incomes on the left side followed by columns for 1-6 children. You find the amount of your combined income and move over to the column showing 2 children. The amount will be that owed by both parties. Each parents percentage is multiplied by this amount to give the actual amount owed by each for two children. If you are each to have custody of a child-she will owe her percentage for the child living with you and you will owe your percentage of support for the child living with her. Offsetting is usually performed.
