Do I need to tell my employer about my surgery?
I need surgery for melanoma. I have to take leave from work for about 6 weeks. I do have short term disability. Do I have to tell my employer why I need surgery? I'd rather that he didn't know.

That is an interesting question. If you intend on applying for short, or long-term disability, you have to tell someone, and the employer will surely find out that way.
