Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

2 years ago me and my x moved in together and his mom bought us a fridge as a gift. 3 months later i caught him cheating and kicked him out. At the time me and his mom made a verbal agreement that i would pay her back when i got a chance. Since i kicked him out ive been struggling and working 2 jobsto pay all the bills i was left with. Now he is harrading me about the fridge. I dont want to pay for it and i want to keep it and concider it even for all that ive had to pay without him there. Since its been over 2 years is there anything legally they can do

If you promised to pay her for the item, she can sue you for that breach of a verbal contract. I think she would win. I would recommend that you either pay her or give the item back.
