Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

A Civil Judgement was brought against me 6 years ago and it is on my Credit Report it is scheduled to come off in September 2010, but I was trying to get it off before that. In my effort to do so I found out the company went out of business 5 years ago, but the judgement is still on my Credit Report and I need to know what I can do to get it off now?

Thanks,

Pat

Send a request to the 3 credit bureaus and ask them to confirm the debt with the original creditor. If they cannot do so within 30 days (I believe it is 30 days), they must remove the entry from your credit record. If the company is out of business, they won't be able to confirm teh debt with them.
