Why wouldn't you? If he is asking for them back, it's your call. If he is deceased and his heirs want them placed in the succession, then I suppose it would depend on what they are worth.

Unless you are legally prohibited from possessing firearms (eg. convicted felon, subject of a domestic relations restraining order, mental patient, etc.) I know of no reason why not.
