Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

A friend gave someone $1500 cash, five months ago, for a car being sold for $2500. She has the Bill of Sale and still owes $1000. The car owner came to her job and took the car back for non-payment. Can she sue in small claims court to get her $1500 back? What are her rights?

She violated the contract. She may get some of her money back if she sues, but I seriously doubt she will get it all back, as she violated the contract and the owner had to incur costs to get it back, clean it, and resell it.
