Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

I I live in springhill louisiana and we just moved here from tennessee. We gave a landlord our deposit to a house so that we could move in but he did not get the people that lived there to move out. We had to find another home to move into and the landlord to the other house will not give us our deposit back. It has been two months. I know that in some states if the landlord does not give you your money you can get double back. I was just wonder how to get out money back from him.

file suit. There is a statute that grants a $200 penalty, plus attorney's fees for landlords who fail to return deposits within 30 days.
