Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

I loaned a friend $4000 to help save their house, the agreement was to make monthly payments until paid in full. I have no letter stating these terms but I do have emails, and text message we exchanged about the debt, and repayment process. Is this enough information for me to file a suit against him.
