Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana
My mother sued her family for her 20% of the family corporation in 1985ish. She settled for 800k around 1989.Another part of the settlement was that her family paid her life insurance premiums for the rest of her life. She is now terminally ill with cancer. I have asked her about the policy in the past. She said the Insurance company went out of business and she would have to sue them again to get it set up and she did not want to go through that again. The policy was for around $1,000,000. I was wondering if i should try to get more information about this or it would be a waste of time. For all I know she cashed it in and did not want to tell me. But she has file cabinets full of paperwork from the court case.

If she has given you power of attorney then you should investigate.
