Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana
I am part of a class action suit which was recently settled with funds due all 8 plaintiffs. The firm handling thesettlement refuses to tell me when the funds will be disbursed(The company granting the funds is a large utility corporation). What is a reasonable time frame for the disbursement?
Not sure of the area of law, since it involves utilities rates.

The funds have to be received by the law firm first. Once the firm receives the money, the will normally disburse within 30 days. If the settlement funds are not paid by the defendant within 45-90 days, there are some provisions to speed the payment..
The settlement is as a result of a lawsuit in either a State or Federal Court. Therefore, a Judge is in charge and you can go to the clerk of court in the court handling the case and at least take a look at the record which should may help with your question. If not, the lawyers represent you......but if there are only 8 plaintiffs, that does not seem to qualify for a class certification.
