Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

Trying to sell a car for $450. A young man gave me $360 as a down payment and asked if i would hold the car (and not sell it) for him untill he would get paid in two weeks. Wrote him a reciept for the downpayment with date, the car year make and model, his name, amount of the vehicle, amount paid, balance owed, and gave him a copy. The day before he was to pay for the rest of the car and pick it up, he calls me and wants his downpayment back because he found another car that he wants to buy. Does he have the right to get his downpayment back, or should he pay his $90 balance and come get the car.

He should come get the car and pay you the balance......or abandon the car. But if you were really sweet understanding that if someone else offered you $3,000 for the car you would try to get the guy to forget the deal, then you might want to help him. I don't know any of yoy folks, but if $90 is really a BIG deal for the guy, then he is in bad shape.....what would your President suggest you do? However, legally, he owes you the balance.
