Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

I was served with papers saying I am being sued for a vehicle that I co-signed for someone else. The vehicle was an involuntary repossession. What should I do? The other party's where abouts are unknown.

Contact the creditor & negotiate. Perhaps if you pay the past due you can get the vehicle & either use it or sell it.

If you let the repossession go through to a sheriff's sale, it is very likely that the car will be auctioned for less than the full debt. If that happens the creditor can sue you for a deficiency judgment.
