Legal Question in Health Care Law in Louisiana
My best friends son was in a horrific accident two weeks ago in a small Louisiana town. He has a brain injury and a very inexperienced neurosurgeon is "researching" this week-end how to reattach the skull cap from a craniotomy. My friends son is 22 without an advance directive and not married. She wants him moved to Houston Hermann Hospital and his father will not hear of it. They are divorced. Her son was hit by a sheriffs officer en route to a call and money should not even enter into this as the Parrish should be responsible for all bills. What are her rights as his mother?

He is 22 so he is a major. If he is in need of a trustee or guardian because of his injuries, either parent could petition the court. Both parents are next of kin.
