Hi,
Hopefully you filed all sponsorship paperwork including petition for alien relative, adjustment of status application, employment authorization application, etc. concurrently. You should allow about 2 to 3 months for EAD (employment authorization document) to be issued after the sponsorship paperwork has been filed.
You must discontinue employment when H2B status expires until EAD has been issued.
