Legal Question in Insurance Law in Louisiana

attorney bad faith = hearing on motion for contempt

In Suit against homeown Ins.Co for bad faith claims adjust. from Hur. Katrina.

I met adjuster at house on their 1st avail.= 2+mos. after claim. His assessment & remedies were unreasonable & offer approx. $50k= $37k after depr.

The est. was so low & due to many other issues (5mo. baby, father succession, business total loss/ forced sale) I hired a Pub. adjuster.

Ins Co didnt reinspect for 3+add. mo. Where the claim increased nearly 400% for repairs.

upon payment from the intial $ issued for repairs the public adj. was far less helpful & I was forced to file suit, in proper person, against Both.

The Ins. co. tried to dismiss & The adjuster never served.(?)

Judge gave 20 days to ammend pleadings. I hired an attorney who promised the world (experts, etc.)

after signed contract; he has met me only

1) with opposing council 2)at my home w/ same & another adjuster 3)at Depo.

He has given no advise or any info to me b/t parties or Court even after # of requests.

i reciecved 2nd set inter. & asked 4 ext. to get bank docs. was told ok by my attorney

Def. files motion to compel. court orders 10 days

wasn't told until day b/f so I fired my att. & contacted Clerk.

Rec. motion for contempt hearing set 6/17. What can I do?

Re: attorney bad faith = hearing on motion for contempt

You need an attorney. Answer the second set of interrogatories and appear on 6/17 and explain that you are not trying to avoid answering the discovery, it is just taking a long time for the bank to get you the documents.
