Legal Question in Insurance Law in Louisiana
What happens if I have no auto insurance and in a accident?
I was in a accident. I hit a cow. My auto insurance had just expired. The ranchers insurance has came out and appraised the damage to my vehicle. I recieved a phone call from the adjuster today saying that since my insurance had expired and the state of Louisiana require we carry liability insurance, that they are not required to pay me because I was driving illegally.(No insurance) Is this true?

In Louisiana, you must have minimum liability insurance on all your vehicles. If you are making a claim involving your vehicle and do not have at least the minimum liability coverage, then the first $10,000 of your claim is your responsibility.
