Legal Question in Insurance Law in Louisiana
My business was vandalized and burglarized by the owner and employees of a neighboring business. There is proof of the same. I sent a claim to the business' insurance agent to forward to her liability company. That was on 10/26/10. I have had no response at all from them. What should I do at this point?

Since you said you sent a claim to the "business insurance agent" I assume you mean the neighboring business because you have proof. First of all, check with your insurance agent. I guarantee he will tell you that your insurance does not cover "intentional acts of the insured." Which translate into the neighboring business' insurance company will not cover intentional acts of their insureds. So you should immediately file a claim with your insurance company and let them worry about whether they can collect from the neighboring business. I assume you have filed criminal charges against the neighboring business and its employees who committed the acts. If not, do it tomorrow.
