Legal Question in Insurance Law in Louisiana
Car Accident
We were in a car accident and my daughter was hurt pretty bad. She was in the hospital for 5 weeks. The person who hit us only had 10/20 liability and full coverage. Does this mean that we will receive no compensation for pain and suffering?

Re: Car Accident
Unless this person has significant other assets or you had uninsured motorist coverage the answer is yes.
Re: Car Accident
It means the most 1 person will receive from the insurance company is $10,000 and the total if 2 or more persons were injured is $20,000. Hopefully your daughter has some Un/Underinsured Motorist (UM) coverage on her &/or your vehicle. If you were in another person's vehicle, then you may be able to collect from their UM and the UM on your vehicle(s). Otherwise you will have to go after the other driver or his company if he was in the course and scope of his employment when the accident happened.
