I know that i need to pay my mothers remaining bills after her passing, but will i also collect the funds from al ife insurance policy, even if i am not the benefactor?

You do not necessarily have to pay your mother's bills after her death unless you agreed to. As an heir to her property and debts, you have a right to reject the succession and walk away, which is done all the time when debts outweigh assets. The life insurance proceeds belong to the named beneficiaries and no one else. The creditors cannot touch the proceeds of the life insurance named living beneficiaries.
