Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Louisiana

Would you please clarify the definition of fair use.

We particulary do not understand the the four main factors of fair use, which are

-the purpose and character of the use of copyrighted work

- the nature of the original

-the amout and substantiality of the portion used in relation to copyrighted work as a whole

-and the effect of use upon the potential market for or value of the original work.

if you could just clarify these four factors we would appreciate you immensly.

Thank you very much!

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this about fair use. Fair use is a defense that can be asserted if (when) you're sued for copyright infringement. It can mean different things given the facts of the particular case. This bulletin board is not for a thesis on fair use. Consult with a good intellectual property or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
